July 4th

Post by Jan Mosier »

Next weekend is July 4th weekend, do you have plans?

Because it's the 4th I will be home with the pups to make sure they are okay. I usually sit up later with the tv going to silence the sound of the fireworks. We do plan to throw some meat on the grill, most likely hamburgers and hot dogs.

That weekend is usually my mom's hometown carnival/parade so we usually partake in that. (The town is a ten-minute drive away.) This year it was canceled so we're having a party at the farm--bring a dish, fireworks, family, etc.. Hopefully people show....LOL.

On the third we are having a birthday celebration for my nephew. We are still waiting on word as to whether they will have fireworks for the fourth. I guess we will decide after that. We always go right down to the park to watch but this year we will see. It is usually very crowded.

All of the firework shows have been cancelled. NO large events are going on in our state for the next few months. The cancelled the rodeo and all concerts so we are in limbo. We don't really do much on that holiday anymore. We used to go to the cabin all the time. DS family goes with DIL family to Park city. Now that we are in a retired state we just veg at home or go for a drive.

It's a big celebration for us, but without the boys, we don't feel like celebrating much.

Not really. We have a pool, so I invited my family over if it's going to be hot. But they like to leave so they can be home before things get crazy with fireworks. The "joys" of living in Chicago....
