Scrap Kit Storage

Post by Patti »

Tammy had asked the question if anyone had ideas on how to store scrapbook kits. Let's help her out and share some of our ideas.

I had been storing all of my papers by the designer or company but last year I dumped them all and refiled them by topic. All of my cardstock and alphas are in drawers by color, the small embellishments are in mini drawers by color, larger embellishments are in mini drawers filed by theme, and my patterned paper is in standing file folders by theme. This has made my scrapping so much easier. If I am doing beach layouts I just grab the file that is labeled beach, the mini drawer of beach embellishments, and get to work. It's a method that has worked well for me.

I just happened to have worked on them last night. I still have another cube with some in as well. These are kits that need to be put together. I weed them out all the time. I have a stack I am taking to the next retreat to give away. They need new homes!

One thing I am going to say: I’ve really enjoyed doing the workshops, even though I’ve had to use photo placers and I have naked layouts waiting for pictures. Killing a kit is satisfying!

You definitely wouldn't want to use my system if you can even call it a system. At least I pretty much know where everything is.

Well, I store everything by theme. Animals, Birthday, Cars, Travel, etc. and then by Calendar for the Holidays. I don’t really keep kits together. Of course, I hardly ever buy kits either. And I keep my embellishments by theme, too, with the paper. I hope this kinda makes sense on what I do. For the most part I can go to right what I am looking for. The harder things are the “miscellaneous” items
