Sept 3: Groups

We have all heard children (and many adults) say, "When I Grow Up..."
The world is full of opportunities and this month we are going to explore some of them. Join us in September as we create challenges based on careers . . . Who knows, you might decide what you want to be when you grow up!

When I Grow Up - Anon

Someday soon when I grow up, I’ll have a job to do
I’ll write a book or be a cook
Or work inside a zoo.
I might want to drive a bus
Or teach children to read
I’ll lead a train or fly a plane
Or plant a little seed.
I might want to fight a fire
Or be a doctor too
I’ll build a house or sew a blouse
Or sail the ocean blue.
So many jobs that I might choose
I wonder what I will be
I’ll work and learn
Until it’s my turn
To find the right job for me.

Remember - A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations.

Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

Last summer, my daughter participated in an internship in Washington DC. Since she was a little girl, she has said, "I'm going to work in Washington DC." In summary, she had a BLAST doing what she always said she was going to do! Anyways, two days before she moved back home, her roommates and her were at the Capitol Building when several members of the House of Representatives exited after voting on the Infrastructure Bill. The representatives happily posed for pictures with my daughter and her friends. Pictured here with my daughter's group are Representatives Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, Liz Cheney of Wyoming, and Jamie Raskin of California.

Working environments often involve groups, so for this challenge, inspired by the group picture, I challenge you to highlight a group in your project. Maybe it's a team or family picture? Or maybe it's a concert picture where you are watching your favorite group perform? I can't wait to see your group inspired project!

Twice a year my coworkers and I volunteer for our company’s “day of service“. On this particular outing, we ended up at a breast milk bank. It was a little uncomfortable at first but after handling strangers’ breastmilk and packing donations in dry ice all day, we were all much closer friends! There’s nothing like an awkward situation to bring people together
