Monday 9/12: Rescuers

We have all heard children (and many adults) say, "When I Grow Up..."
The world is full of opportunities and this month we are going to explore some of them. Join us in September as we create challenges based on careers . . . Who knows, you might decide what you want to be when you grow up!

When I Grow Up - Anon

Someday soon when I grow up, I’ll have a job to do
I’ll write a book or be a cook
Or work inside a zoo.
I might want to drive a bus
Or teach children to read
I’ll lead a train or fly a plane
Or plant a little seed.
I might want to fight a fire
Or be a doctor too
I’ll build a house or sew a blouse
Or sail the ocean blue.
So many jobs that I might choose
I wonder what I will be
I’ll work and learn
Until it’s my turn
To find the right job for me.

Remember - A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations.

Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

My husband is a member of Ohio Task Force 1, a rescue group that is part of FEMA that assists state and local officials during natural disasters and other tragic events. In 2020, he was deployed to Louisiana during Hurricane Laura. When the storm passed, they found a group of abandoned dogs who were so grateful to have been found. The one my husband is posing with he would've brought home with him if he could have.

My challenge for you...since it is Monday, I challenge you is to not only use this beautiful and easy to replicate sketch from the talented Bev Code in your project, but also highlight something that you "rescued." Perhaps it's a pet...Or perhaps it's a cherished find from a garage sale or antique shop...Or maybe it's simply your favorite person who rescues you when you are feeling down...I can't wait to see what you create!

The sketch...

Stephanie, that is awesome! We have a rescue here that also deploys when there is a natural disaster.

That is awesome! My husband had my daughter, when she was tiny, go with him to training. They would hide her in barrels and the dogs would have to sniff her out. :) She had A BLAST! My husband is a heavy rescue guy, so he doesn't have a working dog, but I sure wish we did!

Our government rescued this area in 1938 to preserve it from logging. In 1953 the Pacific coast area was added to keep it from further development.

Here's my take on the sketch. :)

Photos of sweet grandson Kellan and the puppy they rescued about 9-10 years ago. They named him Bo. :)
