Sept. 14 COWBOY

We have all heard children (and many adults) say, "When I Grow Up..."
The world is full of opportunities and this month we are going to explore some of them. Join us in September as we create challenges based on careers . . . Who knows, you might decide what you want to be when you grow up!

When I Grow Up - Anon

Someday soon when I grow up, I’ll have a job to do
I’ll write a book or be a cook
Or work inside a zoo.
I might want to drive a bus
Or teach children to read
I’ll lead a train or fly a plane
Or plant a little seed.
I might want to fight a fire
Or be a doctor too
I’ll build a house or sew a blouse
Or sail the ocean blue.
So many jobs that I might choose
I wonder what I will be
I’ll work and learn
Until it’s my turn
To find the right job for me.

Remember - A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations.

Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

A cowboy is someone who works on a ranch handling cattle and horses. Cowboys are most closely associated with the American West. Thanks to art and literature that featured this iconic figure. The exact number of modern cowboys is unclear, but is certainly far fewer than in the heyday of the American West.
You might know you are a cowboy
if you work on a Ranch
if you taught your kid to lasso before they could read
you can tell the differences between identical horses
the total you have spent on cowboy boots is larger than what you spent on the rest of your clothing
You have some customized footwear
You were raised at Rodeos
You have some good old fashioned manners
A George Strait song is your ringtone
More people say they remind you of John Wayne than either of your parents

C Chaps -use Fringe
O Old fashioned- use something old from your stash
W Washi tape- use washi tape on your layout
B Bandana- Use something paisley or kerchief looking
O Old West- use an arrow on your layout
Y Yee Haw!- Use a crazy unusual title
To be honest I chose Cowboy because I knew I had Rodeo Pictures, however the pics have nothing to do with my challenge. I have given you some information about what a real Cowboy is. Then I took the Words from Cowboy and turned them into scrapbook related qualities. My challenge to is is.... Use at least three things from the six letter possibilities in Cowboy. I actually did use them all but you only need to use three and let us know which 3 you chose. Have so much fun!

Great challenge! Love your clever recipe!
I can hear Willie Nelson:
"Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
Don't let 'em pick guitars or drive them old trucks.
Let 'em be doctors and lawyers and such."
