When you make cards to send in the mail, do you make them flat or lumpy? If you make them lumpy how do you protect the card from getting ripped in the postal machines?
I try to keep them as flat as possible for mailing. Sometimes if it has something like a gem or something on it, the lady at my post office told me to put the clear packing tape over that area so it wouldn't get hung up in the machines. Other times they send it through non-machinable so it doesn't have a chance to get hung up. It costs a little more, but not much.
I use padded manila envelopes for the lumpy ones. The postage is higher but they arrive intact I guess they are treated as small packages rathwr than envelopes.
I try to keep them fairly flat, but sometimes will have buttons or bows that raise them up a little more. So far, I haven't done anything on those envelopes except add an extra stamp for handling/weight.
