January 2025 - Meet Me In Memphis

Join us as we pay homage to the one and only "King of Rock and Roll" - Elvis Presley. Presley's energized performances and interpretations of songs, and sexually provocative dance moves make for a fun and exciting month of challenges. So grab that peanut butter and banana sandwich, put on those blue suede shoes, & tell everybody in the whole cell block to come play along with us this month.
A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday (sketch), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations in the Cookin' up Creations Gallery.
Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

When it came to Christmas, Elvis never grew up. The holiday season made him unabashedly sentimental. Purchasing Graceland gave him the opportunity to celebrate the holiday in style. The driveways and the main house were lined with blue lights, and in front were six 8 foot Christmas trees decorated with multi-color lights. Inside, his mansion was completely decked out for the season, with the focus on a huge Christmas tree in the dining room. After dinner, everyone would gather around the piano to sing Christmas carols.
'It really is the best season of the year. The Christmas carols, trees, and lights just grab you. There's something about Christmas and being home that I just can't explain. Maybe it's being with the family and with friends, time to read and to study. And of course, there are the snowball fights and sleigh rides and, yes. just home'. Elvis' heartfelt words about the holidays were revealed in the Memphis Press-Scimitar, in 1966.
Just like Elvis, our family loves coming together to celebrate this wonderful holiday. We enjoy opening presents early Christmas morning and of course “decking the halls” in anticipation of this beautiful holiday. We may not gather in front of a piano for some Christmas caroling but we sure do some mean karaoke if I say so myself LOL!
For this challenge I did have to move around some items in the sketch in order to accommodate my pictures. I found a scrapbook page with music note sheet patterns for Christmas carols and thought it would be a cute homage to the KING since he loved Christmas music! I also used dimensional letters and included foam dots to make embellishments pop. Elvis loved things GRAND and Over the Top!
Challenge for you all is to:
1. use sketch provided as inspiration
2. include something musical or having to do with music (anything goes)
3. popped up title and or pics and embellishments.
Have fun gals! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with! Happy Scrappin!!
