This month at Cookin’ Up Creations, we’re turning our creative tanks into aquariums of inspiration! Whether your scrappy stash is teeming with color or hiding a few quirky surprises like that one-eyed googly fish, we’re challenging you to open the lid and show us what’s swimming inside.

From bubbly embellishments and underwater hues to layouts that make waves with motion and texture, this month we’ll explore a different part of your crafty ecosystem. Think of it like cleaning out your fish tank—only way more fun and way less smelly.

It’s time to check the filter, stir the waters, and let your creativity flow free. What’s in your tank? Let’s find out—one page at a time.

A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday (sketch), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations in the Cookin' up Creations Gallery.

Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

Today, a new kind of fish is swimming by: the adventure fish! Just like fish exploring every corner of their aquarium, we set out on our own adventures when we hop on a plane, hit the road, or even wander into something new right in our own backyard.
Your challenge: Create a layout about an adventure, big or small. But here’s the catch, use at least one old supply from the bottom of your stash (paper, stickers, embellishments, etc.). Think of it as rediscovering a sunken treasure in your creative tank! Also, include a travel motif (map, compass, tickets, arrows, or something that shows movement)

For my example, I scrapped photos of us ready to fly off on our trip. The patterned paper I used has been in my stash forever—it was the perfect “old treasure” to help tell this new adventure story.

So dive deep into your stash, stir the waters, and show us what adventures are swimming in your tank!

This one documents our visit to Bondi Beach during our adventure vacation to Australia.
The travel motif is the blue map paper for the background. My stash item is the yellow alphabet stickers - puffy alphas from Pinkfresh that came out in 2016! (If you look closely, I made the "E" out of an "F." ;-) )

My old stash item is the text paper…I’ve had that paper pad for years! The tiny buttons are also super old!

My travel item is the airplane on my chipboard title.

Fantastic page! I love how the position of the twine creates movement on your page, great combination of pattern papers!
