Monday 12/1: Sketch and Rediscovered Paper Pad
Posted: Sun Nov 30, 2025 6:21 pm
This December, we’re taking a magical trip to the Island of Misfit Toys — where every imperfect creation finds its place and every quirky layout shines! Whether your photos don’t quite match, your embellishments march to their own beat, or your color combos are just a little offbeat, this is the month to embrace the beauty of being unique.
Join us at Cookin' up Creations as we celebrate the wonderfully “imperfect” side of creativity. After all, just like a spotted elephant or a train with square wheels, every scrapbook page deserves a little love and a whole lot of sparkle.

So dust off those forgotten supplies, rescue those unfinished pages, and let’s give our “misfit” projects a happy home — one glittery layout at a time!
A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday (sketch), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations in the Cookin' up Creations Gallery.
Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

Happy Monday everyone! And December...It doesn't seem possible, but here we are welcoming in a new month of challenges. For my first project of the month featuring "The Island of Misfit Toys," I dug deep into my buried stash of paper pads and discovered a beautiful array of blue snowflake/winter themed papers. It was screaming to be used for a project just like toys on the island were itching to be played with. I wanted a special photo to use on such delicate paper and found this heritage picture of my mother and her two sisters being toted around in a wheelbarrow by their dad/my grandpa. I'm assuming it was cold out based on their clothing and decided that my mom and aunts would be the perfect subject matter for my layout. It literally felt like Christmas rediscovering this gorgeous paper pad, so my challenge to you today is to use a paper pad you forgot was hidden in your scrap space. Because it is Sketch Monday, I also challenge you to use this easy to replicate sketch that was featured in October 2025 by Sketch in Scrap. Finally, to add a little "misfit" feel to my project, I added a red cardinal on my title to add a pop of color in the sea of blue paper. I challenge you to add a touch of an unexpected color as well to your page. I can't wait to see your final products!
