October 2023 - Night at the Museum
Join us all month long as we take a trip to the Museum – we’ll visit the many exhibitions on display while preserving, collecting, interpreting and displaying objects of artistic, cultural, and scientific significance!.
A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday (sketch), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations in the Cookin' up Creations Gallery.
Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing)
The 2006 “Night at the Museum” movie starring Ben Stiller was based on a children's book by Croatian author, Milan Trenc. I found this colorful book after a quick online search and thought it would be fun for a challenge to use this bookcover as inspiration for a layout. Please choose at least (2) inspirations from the image and let us know what inspired you!
For my layout, I noticed a “fishtail cut” in the way the floor was colored from the guard’s flashlight, so I included that on my page, also, I pulled the light turquoise color from the dinosaur skeleton!

Here's mine. I used blues, tan, and a touch of yellow.
Photo of DH and I relaxing at Barcelo Maya, Mexico. (July 2022)

(Our daughter took this photo and I didn't know it until looking through the photos later.)

I used the arch in the background and the color teal. Also different colors in the title.
