7/17 RQOTD

Post by Tamara »

With so many disasters happening all over the US, have you ever been in a tornado, flood, fire or scary situation?

I have been in a couple of earthquakes that were only 5.6 or below. I have always been frightened of losing my house to a fire. Once we were camping in our tent trailer in a lightning storm and that was real scary. I was at the mall of America when a tornado came and the shut down all the registers and escorted us to the basement. It was crazy but we later found out it touch down in a nearby town 30 miles away and did some damage as well as a coupe people died.

Nothing really devastating. Been thru a couple of hurricanes here in Fl. where we lost power but luckily no damage to our house while some neighbors had roof damage. Up in Maine we had a bad ice storm and lost power for a couple of weeks. We were very lucky since our house was surrounded by trees but none fell on the house.

We had some roof damage several years ago when a hurricane hit the area. Recently, my son's beautiful mustang was totaled due to flood damage. The insurance hasn't finalized the claim.

We had some downed trees and were without power for about a week when Hugo hit the East Coast in 1989. We considered ourselves lucky compared to some.
