October 2023 - Night at the Museum
Join us all month long as we take a trip to the Museum – we’ll visit the many exhibitions on display while preserving, collecting, interpreting and displaying objects of artistic, cultural, and scientific significance!.
A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday (sketch), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations in the Cookin' up Creations Gallery.
Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....
Today's challenge is based on the Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. In the movie Larry Daley must travel to London's British Museum to find out what is causing the tablet to decay. While at the British Museum he must battle The Xangliu. The Xangliu is a statue based on an ancient serpent-like water monster with reptilian traits in Chinese mythology....it also has nine heads! Do you see where this challenge is going? If you guessed use nine of something, you guessed correctly. You can use nine photos, patterned papers, flowers, brads, enamel dots, anything you want.....as long as it's nine.
The second part of this challenge is to use the sketch below and use thread, twine or ribbon to represent The Xangliu.
I chose this sketch from Sketches In Thyme by Bev Code.
And here is my layout using nine enamel dots and thread to represent the snake.
