RQOTD 8-15-20

Post by Wendy »

Are you an empty nester?

My oldest moved out 7 years ago and it was a slow transition for me. My youngest daughter moved into her dorm yesterday. So now it's just me, the hubby and my son (13). I'm already feeling the quiet...

Yes, we have been for many years as we have 3 adult kids 36, 38, and 41. Sometimes it feels like we aren't empty nesters though especially in past Summers because some of the grandkids were here nearly everyday.

Now, I miss them though. Don't have them much because of COVID and nobody going anywhere. Now many are getting ready for hopefully a sports season and band.

My oldest daughter moved into her first apartment yesterday at college. She did the dorm thing last year until Covid sent her home in March. My other daughter is a sophomore in HS. So empty nesting on the horizon. I must admit, it feels very strange when both girls are gone from the house, and it's just my husband and I and our pack of dogs.

No. . .my daughter (32) lives in South Carolina, and has 2 babies (Everly and Harrison) and is currently visiting . . .Garrett (19) is a sophmore in college but chose a local college so he commutes . . .I have a taste of "being an empty nester" in the summers when he visits his dad in NC during the summer . . .we still talk every day, and most days Facetime when he's gone . . .I can't even phathom not talking to my kids daily.

Yes, we have been basically since 2001 for two years then again in 2005 and going forward since then. We do our best to enjoy it and regularly have a date night. Before Covid it was going out to eat. Now it seems we have a date night every night and we are still surviving!!

No...I have 2 dogs! My kids have all been gone since 2000 with some short term/long term visits in there. DH travels with his job, so sometimes for as much as a month at a time it's just me and the dogs.
