Hi ladies! I'm so glad to be home from my trip. It was terrible. I got to Oxford to find out that daughter and fiance have been having problems and he tried to break up with her, then said they just needed to postpone the wedding. They said they just didn't want to have an engagement party under the circumstances and so 24 hours before the party I was calling people to tell them it had been canceled. It's been a very hard, very emotional 4 days and I am beat.
Wanda, I'm so sorry about the weekend. That must have been a painfully difficult position to be in as a mom.
Mike and I planted some flowers yesterday in the space in your front yard where we took out the cottonwood tree that the landscapers had put in when our house was built. I bought plants my mom loves -- marigolds, zinnias, geraniums, and then some cute asters. They're nice and bright! Mom likes to take care of flowers and always had them in her yard when she lived in her own home. And Mike -- the guy who thought flower beds were a bother and an unnecessary annoyance -- has found he enjoys planting and tending them. Funny how retirement changes one's outlook!
